Utilities & Home Services
Waukee splits the utility chores between the City and MidAmerican Energy. Not one account, because apparently moving needed at least one additional password.
Water, Sewer & City Services
The City of Waukee handles water, sanitary sewer, stormwater and city-billed garbage and recycling services where applicable. New residents can start service through Utility Billing.
START CITY UTILITIES →MidAmerican Energy
MidAmerican Energy provides electric and natural-gas service throughout Waukee. These services are separate from the City utility bill.
MIDAMERICAN SERVICE →Check Your Address
The City lists multiple internet providers, including CenturyLink, Consolidated Communications, Frontier, HughesNet, Mediacom, Mi-Fiber, Viasat and Vonage. Not every provider serves every neighborhood, so verify your exact address.
WAUKEE UTILITY COMPANIES →Trash, Recycling & Getting Rid of Stuff
The part of moving where you discover that apparently your household has been collecting extension cords since 2007.
City-served residential properties receive garbage and recycling through Waukee's utility system, with Ankeny Sanitation handling garbage service. Apartments, townhomes and some associations may use private collection, so confirm your property setup.
CITY UTILITY INFO →Large-item and move-out disposal rules can differ from normal cart service. Check the City's current garbage guidance before setting furniture, appliances or oversized debris out for collection.
WAUKEE SERVICE CONTACTS →Hazardous chemicals, electronics and special waste need different handling than ordinary garbage. Check current City and regional disposal guidance, including eligibility and fees, before making the drive.
CITY OF WAUKEE →Acceptance rules vary by organization and item. Confirm the receiving location and what it accepts before loading the car with half your basement.
LOCAL RESOURCES →Address, License, Voting & Vehicles
A few forms stand between you and being administratively recognized as a person who has successfully moved.
New Iowa residents must title and register their motor vehicles within 30 days of establishing residency. Waukee is in Dallas County, and vehicle title and registration services are handled by the Dallas County Treasurer in Adel.

DALLAS COUNTY MOTOR VEHICLE →Change Your Address

ADDRESS CHANGE INFO →Dallas County Elections
Waukee residents use Dallas County election resources. After a move, use official county and Iowa Secretary of State tools to verify that your voter information and polling location are current.
Iowa's 2026 general election is Tuesday, November 3. Dallas County publishes current election information, voter resources, precinct information and polling-location tools for county residents.
DALLAS COUNTY ELECTION INFO →Schools & Families
School boundaries don't always respect city names nearly as much as humans would prefer, so check your address first.
Waukee Community School District
Waukee CSD is the primary public district, but the district extends beyond Waukee city limits and attendance assignments depend on the residence address. Verify residency and the assigned attendance center before enrolling.
WAUKEE SCHOOLS →Waukee Public Library
The Waukee Public Library is a useful first stop for local programs, community resources and the inevitable period when half your belongings are still in totes.
CITY & LIBRARY RESOURCES →Triumph Park
Waukee's 66-acre Triumph Park includes 12 ball fields, three miles of trails, an 11-acre pond, the EPIC Inclusive Playground and the Miracle League field. A fairly convincing reason to eventually leave the unpacking behind.
TRIUMPH PARK →Moving With Pets
Your dog or cat may also have local rules to comply with. Naturally, they have delegated all administrative duties to you.
Waukee requires annual dog and cat licensing and proof of rabies vaccination. The City currently routes new licenses through BarkPass and also publishes animal-control information online.
